What is Endometriosis?

Whats-endo-2

Endometriosis occurs when misplaced tissue called endometrium develops into growths or lesions outside the uterus.

Usually, during a “normal” monthly cycle, the tissue of the uterine lining builds up, breaks down, and sheds out of the body through the vagina. This is what we call “periods”. The blood and tissue that  normally should come out of the body is trapped inside and it has no way of leaving the body, resulting in internal bleeding, breakdown of the blood and tissue from the lesions and inflammation. This causes pain, infertility, scar tissue formation, adhesions and bowel problems.
