Where is Endometriosis Found?

Wheres-endometriosis

In the last blog, we went through the basics of what Endometriosis actually is. It’s important though, to also understand where Endometriosis is generally found. Not everybody is the same: your endo might be located in the ovaries while someone else’s endo might be in the uterus or in other places. At times, you can have endometriosis present in multiple locations at the same time.

Where is Endometriosis found?

Common areas:

  • Abdomen
  • Ovaries
  • Fallopian tubes
  • Ligaments that support the uterus
  • Area between the vagina and rectum
  • Outer surface of the uterus
  • Lining of the pelvic cavity

Other sites for these endometrial growths may include:

  • Bladder
  • Bowel
  • Vagina
  • Rectum
  • Cervix
  • Vulva
  • Abdominal surgical scars

Less commonly they are found in:

  • Lungs
  • Arms
  • Thighs

In two of my surgeries, the doctors found that I had endometriosis in a number of different places: my fallopian tubes, behind the uterus, caecum, uterus, rectum and on both sides of the pelvis. Where did the doctors find your endometriosis?
